My Life in Bridgeton
By Araceli

April 5, 2005 was an important day! On that day, I arrived in the United States. I traveled to Bridgeton from Mexico by car. I came with my mom and my brothers. We were so scared!! We didn't know anyone in Bridgeton. We had to find a place to live. Since that time I have done a lot of interesting things.I have also learned many knew things.

At first, I didn't like Bridgeton. It was different from Mexico my hometown. It seemed quieter and less interesting.I felt homesick for the excitement of Mexico city. Since then I have become acquainted with many different stores. I like it much better here now. I have visited New York City. I loved all the different accents. Now I think that Bridgeton and the area around it are almost as exciting as Mexico city.

It hasn't been easy because English is a very difficult language. It seems less regular and more idiomatic than Spanish. Nevertheless, I am proud of my English now. I have also learned about American culture. Each person seems to have more freedom , but each person has more responsibility too. I have never been so free I have met many American students, and I have talked with them. I have an American friend that is very nice with me. I am beginning to feel at home now in Bridgeton.

I plan to stay with my family in Bridgeton until I graduate from college. Then I plan with my family to go back to Mexico city. What about my friends? I don't know I haven't really talked to them about me going back to Mexico city. Now I am just enjoying the present.
